static

So, my hubby's dad (my father-in-law) is a fantastic visual artist and he recently started his own web site, which is doing very well. I've added a link to it under "cause I said so", but for those of you with no time to spare, I'll put it here as well...

www.hungryartist.ca

Check it out. I guarranty you'll be impressed.

Here's one I wrote in January...

STATIC

She just couldn't let go
of the life when nothing was spoken plain
painful as a radio
between stations
even doom would glow
in the billowed smoke
past the curtains
yellowed from too much day
the calendar was soft
harmless and remote
the laundry was fresh
with the smell of action
and losing
was something to live by
we were sinners and kings and broken heroes
we were informing the divine
poetry dusted the sweat
on our smooth brows
light clung to the corners
of our harbours
we could reach every halo
and hold it to the ground
like a face thrust in water
and every jewel
was snapped from its crown
taken as candy
ah, those were the days!
