vote for your favorite title!!

I haven't decided what to call my latest offering yet. It'll either be:

IT'S HARD TO BE SELF-RIGHTOUS WHEN YOUR ACTIONS ARE LESS THAN PERFECT

or

HAPPY TUESDAY

The key to life
is not whether or not
it comes with a cost
but whether the price you pay
was worth the fee.

Let there be no fear of evil
for when we do not deliver
the punishment for ourselves
the Devil will do it for us
so thank him for taking the whip
and give yourself back to God.
Now is not the time graceful exits.
It's a show down at sun up.

They say the goal of life
isn't simply to be happy
but to be happy with what you get.
But there is so much more to be had!
So much more peace to make
than all this burning at the stake.

And worst of all
now they make us do it for ourselves
light the match
that ignites the flame
held to your feet
you volunteer your hands to vice
and they punish their puppet
for its moment in the sun
but do not mistake it
for God's Will my friends.
Remember it's a dungeon.

And there were times
in my younger years
I could go whole days
without thinking about a tragedy
and thought I could stave off death
by tasting it daily
make a friend
of my enemy.

"Don't make me look like a chump for this" Cadaver said.

But with age
comes the fear of consequence
and every little pang
becomes a prison
You start thinking
in the post-mortem tense
and the magic
feels less like mystique
and more like glamour
false fronts
dissolve from the face of God
and you win back
the love of your childself.

You'll be at the liquor store.
I'll be clawing my way
back to bliss.

P.S. Yesterday was the 14 year anniversary of my dad Gary's death. With any luck, he's out there somewhere reading my stuff right now. Thanks to him for giving me my dreamer's nature.
